9/20/10: Oh My! Oh Virgo A GoGo!

Thanks to all who came out to TT the Bears for Virgo A GoGo, especially all the "Virgo a GoGo" GoGo dancers. The club was pretty much packed all night, it was a very special evening; though it was bittersweet to see the The Motion Sick, as they performed their final show. Pictures are up on facebook, some videos up on youtube... start tagging!

8/15/10: New England Skydive Americana Festival

The New England Skydive Americana Festival at New Enland Sky Dive in Lebanon, Maine was a grand ole time, we were thankful for a great crowd and even more thankful our parachutes opened up and we all landed safely. Even Johnny Stump!

6/10/10: A Hit at the Harpoon

It was so good to be back playing at Harpoon Brewery headlining this year's Summer Session Beer and Music Festival. There was about 6,000 in attendance; and lots of awesome Harpoon beer was served. Our friends at The Weekly Dig wrote a very nice article about the show. Click HERE to check it out! Thanks!

5/30/10: Thanks to our friends Vulture

Thanks to Vulture for having us at their CD Release Party at The Middle East last weekend. Also, a big thanks to everyone who came out to the tip of the Cape and saw us in Providencetown for Memorial Day Weekend. The show was a blast. We'd also like to thank all who took part in our "hatchet throwing contest" at the campgrounds. A special shout out to Nate K. from Brighton who schooled us in the contest, sinking 4 straight hatchets into the target. We all learned a lesson that day; don't mess with Nate in the woods.

4/27/10: Boston Magazine's 2010 Best of Boston Readers Poll

We have some good news, It turns out that Boston Magazine has us ranked pretty high in their Best of Boston - Readers Choice Awards... BUT IT's NOT OVER! Thanks for helping us pull ahead of the Dropkicks, but it would be really awesome if we could win this thing. It looks like voting closes May 1, so we really need to make a push. If you would like to see us win this thing, please CLICK HERE and vote for "Three Day Threshold" under the category of "Best Local Band". Thanks! - Kier, PJ, Evan, Zac and Johnny Stump Any votes are much appreciated. PS: Stay tuned, we got some big shows coming up this summer including: Harpoon Summer Session June 5, P-Town for Memorial Day Weekend and headlining the Middle East May 21. Also, more big news from Jim Beam on the way!

3/16/10: 4 Shows in 1 day? Can we do it? Yes we Can! (we hope!)

This year we are doing 4 shows for St Paddys Day; Playing the Dropkick Murphy's After-Party at the House of Blues (show #1, goes from 10pm-1am;l; technically one hour is on the 17th); then Kennedy's Pub (show #2 goes from 10am-3pm) in downtown Boston then The Asgard in Cambridge (show #3 goes from 4pm-9pm) then we finish off with our friends Comanchero at Precinct (show #4 goes from 10pm-2am). Its gonna be a long day of St Paddys Day shenanigans!

2/27/10: We are headlining the New England Americana Festival!

We will be closing out the 4th Annual New England Americana Festival. With so many great musicians in the room, you know we will be calling up some friends to jam with us. It should be quite a show/possible trainwreck! Either way, a hell of a time!

2/18/10: New CD available on iTunes and CDBaby!!

It's official! You can get a copy of our new CD Straight Out of the Barrel on CD Baby and iTunes. Though, if you come to the New England Americana Festival at the end of the month, we'll have a limited supply where we will be giving them out for free!

2/15/10: 3DT CD Release Party/Rodfest SELLS OUT The Paradise!

Thanks to the 700+ people who came to our CD Release Party/Rodfest! In addition to the capacity crowd, we have raised roughly over $50,000 for the Gregory "Rodney" Moynahan Scholarship! More info at Right Here on FACEBOOK!

1/29/10: New 3DT song, "My Favorite Titty Bar" choosen as The Boston Phoenix's MP3 of the WEEK

The new album already has accolades rolling in. Track 2 of Straight Out of the Barrel, called "My Favorite Titty Bar" is featured in this week's issue of the Boston Phoenix as well as getting spun on The Phoenix's sister radio station, WFNX 101.7fm. There are definite plans to make a music video for this song down the line, on account that this would be one of the funnest songs ever to make a video for. We have no choice. We have to do it. Want to be in it too? Drop us an email!

1/15/10: New 3DT song to be used by JIM BEAM!

Our song "Jim Beam" has been picked up by our buddies in Clermont Kentucky and will be featured on the Jim Beam Facebook fan page alongside 2 other kick ass bands/musicians; Kid Rock and Montgomery Gentry! Click here to check out the video!!

12/11/09: New Animated 3DT Christmas Video

Happy Holidays! I hope you are catching the Christmas Spirit... If not, this may help. It's an animated, family-friendly, music video done a few our friends who work for Comedy Central & PBS of one of the songs of the Three Day Threshold/Summer Villains redcorded for our Holiday Cd (also available on iTunes). Click here and take a look: www.iwantazooforchristmas.com

10/31/09: Happy Halloween! New CD in the Works!

Just wanted to let you know that Three Day Threshold is recording their 6th full legnth album entitled "Straight Out Of The Barrel". The album is being recorded at at the legendary Camp Street Studios; formerly known as Fort Apache (Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo, Warren Zevon, Morphine, Treat Her Right, Pixies, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Hole, etc etc)... before that, the studio was originally operated by George Thorogood and Rounder Records. We recorded Uni as well as some other songs from "Against the Grain" here, and we are pumped to come back!

10/02/09: Three Day's Wild Tour of Kentucky

Glad to say that Three Day Threshold got back from last month's wild Kentucky tour. For those who aren't in the know, Fred Noe, the great-grandson and master distiller of Jim Beam, brought down lead singer of Three Day Threshold, Kier Byrnes and cohorts down to perform at a private party of his. After with the show, the boys were taken on a private tour of the distillery by Fred himself with a generous "sampling" from Fred's private stock. It turns out the whole Jim Beam crew had been turned onto our music by some friends and had been enjoying our tunes as much as we had been enjoying their bourbon. Fred and the gang were quite surprised when they found out that boys from the north could make such convincing bluegrass music.

09/15/09: 4 shows this weekend

Three Day Threshold's got 4 shows this weekend; Northeastern University Friday evening early, Virgo a Go Go on Friday Night (a huge bash complete with go go dancers and pirates; you should come, its downstairs at Copperfields, right by Fenway Park). Then Saturday we play outdoors at The Union Square Country Fair in Somerville, then Sunday its over to another excellent event, the Allston Village Street Fair, hope you can make it! 12/11/09: HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I hope you are catching the Christmas Spirit... If not, this may help. It's an animated, family-friendly, music video done a few our friends who work for Comedy Central & PBS of one of the songs of the Three Day Threshold/Summer Villains Holiday Cd (also available on iTunes). "Click here and take a look: www.iwantazooforchristmas.com!

09/07/09: John and Kier just got back from Kentucky and, Ouch, our livers hurt, but what an awesome time. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU JIM BEAM (and of course, Mr. Fred Noe)!!! if you don't know what we are talking about, you may want to read the August 12th update below for more details on what happened!

08/12/09: Thanks to Jim Beam, we have some amazing news. While its no secret that the band likes whiskey; hell, half our songs are about whiskey (and the other half are about the stupid stuff that we end up doing when we've had too much!), but somehow the news of our band travelled all the way down to Clermont, Kentucky to the ears of Fred Noe, Master Distiller and Great Grandson of Jim Beam. By a HUGE stroke of luck, he decided to fly us down there and invite us over to the distillery for a private tour and tasting, as well as to play a few songs at a private bbq at his house. This is going to be amazing!

07/07/09: Residency at Atwoods next month (every Thursday)!

06/05/09: Three Day Threshold is on the cover of The Weekly Dig this week, and there's some pretty good press about the band in there as well. For instance, The Weekly Dig prints that "Kier Byrnes of Three Day Threshold is the de facto godfather of the scene." Grab yourself a copy, or check out the story online.

Secondly, we have been taking some time off writing some new songs (that I think will be some of our best work yet; including some dabbling in Russian folk music) BUT we have a show at Harpoon Brewery June 6th as part of their Summer Session. So, come on down and enjoy some tasty Harpoon beer and Three Day Threshold with 7,000 of your closest friends. These shows are always a lot of fun.

PS: Look for Kier Byrnes and/or Three Day Threshold on facebook.

05/01/09: Three Day Threshold's Kier Byrnes has been hired to play guitar on Robby Roadsteamers new album and take part in "Quiet Desparation"; A wonderful story about the creative arts scene in Allston Massachusetts.

04/28/09: The awards ceremony for Iguana Music Fund at the Passim Folk Music & Cultural Center (the legendary club where Bob Dylan and Joan Baez got their start) went really well. Three Day Threshold got an award acknowledging the band's musical achievements. Thank you so much Iguana Music Fund and Club Passim! We are very honored and truly grateful.

04/20/09: We got more good news: Some more international travelling to do! Though not as far as Europe or Central America, Three Day Threshold was choosen to be part of North By Northeast Music Festival. Its put on by the same people who do South By South West (SXSW). We are just pumped to head up to Toronto, Canada, to visit the home turf of Michael J Fox, RUSH, Barenaked Ladies and Casey MacKinnon.

03/29/09: Three Day Threshold's Kier Byrnes will once again be a judge at the WBCN High School Battle of the Bands at Harpers Ferry this weekend. Good luck to all the participants and their parents, but most of all good luck to Kier. We hope he makes it through OK; somehow alcohol, school children and rock and roll sounds like a recipe to get arrested.

03/15/09: The Irish Lads (the annual Three Day Threshold and friends Irish Session Jam) is back for St Paddys Day! We have Zac Taylor (from the Drugs) on guitar, Noel Coakley (from Autum Hollow) on pedal steele, Evan Gavry (from Mike MacDonald and the Widowmakers) on mandolin and banjo, Glenn Yoder and Mike McCullagh on guitar (from The Cassavettes), Johnny Ransom (from 3DT and Sam Reid and the Riot Act) on bass Mike McDermott, Jacko Corbett and Brendan Murphy (ex-Girls, Guns and Glory) on bodhran and other various percussion. Also, Three Day Threshold will be playing at Bills Bar on Lansdowne Street for the post-Dropkick Murphys show & afterparty. Everyone with a DKM ticket stub gets in for free!

02/13/09: We just had our NH CD Release Party for "Lost in Belgium" up in Franconia, NH. It was a late night and a big old time. We even got pulled around on a sleigh by a Belgian Draft Horse (they are as big as Clydesdales!)

02/05/09: Thanks to all who made it out to our show at The Paradise for Rodfest 7! With 400 tickets sold in advance, the show sold out even earlier than it did last year (9:30pm!)!!! We also ran out of cds, our apologies... We went through 3 1/2 boxes of our new cd "Lost in Belgium" but if you were at Rodfest and werent able to get a cd, let us know!

01/16/09: We are gearing up to headline the Main Room of The Paradise for Rodfest (Saturday, January 31).. Are you? This will be the 9th time we've played the main room of the 'Dise, and everytime we play there, its a guaranteed hell of a time! Hope you can make it! PS: Tune in Sun Jan 25th to hear us on WAAF a little after 10pm!

01/10/09: Well, despite mother nature's every wish against us, we made it back from Europe. Yes, we tasted some of the finest beers on the planet and have some crazy stories to share (bloody tambourines, dead horses and evil roosters). Fortunately, we also have some great news that we can actually share publicly: The Iguana Music Fund and the Passim Folk Music & Cultural Center (the legendary club where Bob Dylan and Joan Baez got their start) gave Three Day Threshold an award acknowledging the band's musical achievements. What a great thing to come home to and find in the mailbox!

01/05/09: The tours going great. Our largest show (TeutRock) had about 1000 in attendance. There have been some tough times too; Kier barely has a voice, Eric barely has a chin and Johnny has drunk all the beers (again!)!!! But, that being said, things are pretty cool. We're running the same circuit as some guys from Hank 3 (Kinda cool if you are a Hank Williams or Bocephus fan).

01/03/09: YIKES! We just played a Belgian Prison! I must admit, I thought I was gonna feel like Johnny Cash up there but Man! That was nothing like the scene in "Walk the Line". We recorded the set as well as some other tunes. We're gonna listen to them when we get back and maybe post 'em on I-tunes. We'll see. We'll keep you updated!

12/31/08: Happy New Year! Belgium is sweet, Today we are playing a rave at 4am in Goes, Holland. We've seen a lot of old friends and made some new ones. We wish everyone back home a great new year.

12/25/08: Merry Christmas, We're catching a plane to Europe!

11/10/08: Hi, Hope you are coming to the advance listening party at The Monk's Cell/THE PUBLICK HOUSE in Brookline MA on Monday, November 24th for our new CD, "Lost in Belgium". If you want to buy a special advance copy and hear it for yourself, CLICK HERE!!

PS: As a bonus on "Lost in Belgium" (our new cd), there's a song called "Compass" which was written, recorded and debuted in one of the late night jam sessions that took place in the band house. We hope you like it and will come by The Monk's Cell in the Publick House November 24th and enjoy a fine Belgian stew with us! (the directions/details are below)

11/06/08: In the spirit of Velvet Underground's "Live at Max's Kansas City" and The Who's "Live at Leeds", Three Day Threshold has decided to opt out of their "what happens on the road, stays on the road" policy and is releasing a live album featuring 2 sets from their most recent European tour. The songs are dirty and raw; there were no overdubs or second takes here. Instead, there are some forgotten lyrics, wrong notes and of course, a tractor full of hoots and hollerin'. The album was recorded with a simple, yet practical set up; each night we'd set up 2 stereo mics set in some corner of the club and as a result, you get a true feel for the night, complete with inebriated audience members chiming in during the songs, so it's as close to an actual Three Day Threshold show as you can get without having beer spilled on you. Appropriately enough, the CD is called "Lost in Belgium".

Plans to release Three Day Threshold's newest release, "Lost in Belgium" include a listening party NOVEMBER 24th at Boston's only Belgium Ale House, THE MONK'S CELL in The Publick House on 1648 Beacon St., Brookline, MA! CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE MONK'S CELL AND PUBLICK HOUSE!!!
Afterwards, this winter the band heads out to do another tour promoting the CD on the other side of the Atlantic this winter. So far, 12 shows have been booked, including an "inmates-only" show at the Mechelen Prison in Belgium. When (and if) they return, they will be at The Paradise main room Saturday, January 31, 2009.

Details: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24th, 2008
THE MONK'S CELL in The Publick House on 1648 Beacon St., Brookline, MA.
The night starts at 6pm where we take over the bar and the stereo system in the Monks Cell with some fine ale and possibly a DUVEL toast. At 7pm, we will press "play" on "Lost in Belgium" for the first time.
Everyone who shows up gets a special limited edition copy of our new "Lost in Belgium" album to take home. 21+, donations appreciated but not necessary.

9/30/08: Hi, I'm sorry we haven't written in a while we've been very busy. We have already done over 60 shows this year!!!! Good news is... our new CD "Lost in Belgium" will be out soon! Check back in the next month for more details!

8/23/08: WOW! WHAT A SHOW! Three Day Threshold just played in front of 15,000 up in NH with Grammy Nominated Country artists, Montgomery Gentry at the Meadowbrook Pavilion in Gilford, NH. Tonite we are headlining our buddies Autumn Hollow's CD release Party at a new club called Church. Should be a good time, swing by if you are around Fenway Park!

7/19/08: GOOD NEWS! THREE DAY THRESHOLD made it back safely from our tour for the US troops stationed overseas in bases in Honduras. No one got shot, kidnapped or got malaria, so we're calling it a success (though Kier did get bitten by German Sheppard attack dog - no joke, there are pics up on our facebook and myspace pages if you want to see more)

6/23/08: The summer's been really good to us so far. We played 4 back to back shows at The Chicken Box in Nantucket, then island hopped over to headline The Block Island Music Festival. Things have been good and we've met some really nice people but the biggest news is that we got a call from The Pentagon and have been invited to tour U.S. military outposts in Honduras as part of their Independence Day/4th of July celebrations. We leave at the end of June and have had our Typoid and Hep shots as well as gotten our malaria and cipro pills (to cure dysentry and Anthrax). One of the bases the band will be performing at, we have been informed, recently had their status upgraded from "high" to "critical." The band is in good spirits though and is looking forward to firing some machine guns, riding in some helicopters and of course, taking care of the troops.

3/17/08: HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY! Wow, Europe was intense! We sold a ton of cds, met a ton of great people and drank some AMAZING Belgium beers! We did ten shows and a ton of recording too (there's a rumor of a Three Day Threshold "Live from Belgium" CD in the works). We posted some of our tour blog on our myspace page, if you want to check it out click Here! Well, we have to go play a few more shows on our mini tour of St. Paddy's Day Festivals (5 shows in 3 states in five days!)... pray our livers can hold out for another week of hard Irish drinkin'. Wish us luck and drop us a line on our myspace page!

2/07/08: We were able to raise $18,000 with our sold out show at The Paradise Main Room Jan 18th. We want to say thanks to all our friends and family who were able to make it happen. We'll be heading out to tour Europe in a little bit. It will be our 4th time over, but our first time in Belgium and The Netherlands.

1/03/08: Stay on the look out for Three Day Threshold. We just did several cable access shows; Sonic Lobotomy (Danvers, Sommerville) and Bandwidth TV (Cambridge). I'm sure things will start popping up on youtube soon too.

12/20/07: Thank you MTV for playing such songs as "Narrow it Down" and "I Must Admit" off of our album on MTV's Real World; Sydney.

10/26/07: We are very honored to receive a nomination for a Boston Music Award for "Best Americana Act". Thank you to everybody who supported us.

10/1/07 and 9/1/07: We're on the cover of the September issue of the Noise and the October issue of The Performer... All we can say is F' YEAH! We played some great shows and festivals too this month all over New England; The Allston Street Fair, The Urban Country Fair in Somerville's Union Square, Nantucket, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Check it out!!

8/9/07: We hope to have some new live songs from our on air performances on WBCN, WAAF and WMBR posted soon in the discography section of this site. As for now, all of "Against the Grain" is posted up there as well as our other two albums and some unreleased tracks and instrumentals.

7/9/07: We've added a ton of PICTURES to our myspace site from the cd release party as well as other shows. We'll have more end up by the week. Check 'em out. If you have nay pictures from a show including crowd shots, send em on in! We'll try and get 'em posted! Check it out!!

7/03/07: Thanks to everybody who came out to our "Against the Grain" cd release parties that took place across New England, especially the big show in BOSTON. Special thanks goes out to Somerville's own Redbones BBQ, Rockstar Energy Drink, Nantucket's Cisco Brewery (Triple 8 Vodka and Whales Tale Ale) for hooking things up. Hope you enjoyed the music, the burlesque dancers, got a meal and some bevs, rode the mechanical bull and had a in general rockin' time.

5/10/07: We've added a ton of BONUS MATERIAL to the web site: rare and out of print songs (as well as some songs that were never released publicly at all) to the 3DT Discography section. Give 'em a listen!
1/26/06

12/01/05
Last week's "Baked Beans and Rice" Benefit for the Hurricane Katrina Victims " went well. We even got a nice little blurb in the entertainment section of The Phoenix:
"Over at the Abbey, I found Three Day Threshold chugging through a surging cover of "Folsom Prison Blues". The drums were loud and the audience was having a ball with the pretty ladies from Through the Keyhole Burlesque cutting a wicked rug on the floor. College students may have been home eating turkey but the Boston scene was still fighting the holiday-week club doldrums."

10/07/05
We got some good news, We found out today that Kier Byrnes, just won a National Performance Recognition Award from ASCAP for songwriting. It's a big honor; ASCAP is a National Songwriters Association that members include the who's who of the music biz: Dr. Dre, Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney and Jay Z.

10/02/05
Three Day Threshold wants to congratulate Harpoon Brewery on another fine Octoberfest. Over four thousand people stremed out to get a taste of the new Harpoon Octoberfest beer. Three Day Threshold was just happy to be there on hand to play a little music and get the crowd rockin'.

9/29/05
Thursday we found out that we just missed winning a Boston Music Award. We'll cross our fingers and hope for next year, until then, Dennis Brennan, we have our eye on you!
8/30/05

What a crazy week it's been.
8/10/05
Our upstate New York tour was a blast. First time playing in Albany and Amsterdam. The Gavry family took us in and were amazing. The evening ended up with a late night session with Chad playing cajun music until 3 in the morning. Special thanks to Emily and Evan and their family.
7/20/05
My Other Car is a Police Cruiser: A picture of Three Day Threshold's Kier Byrnes made it into the Reader's Live Music section of the Boston Globe. Click HERE to See it!
7/05/05
Nantucket Fourth of July weekend shows were amazing. We played some long sweaty sets to a packed house. Also finally got a chance to see Cowboy Mouth, who played the shows after us, as well. A great time was had by all. If you ever find yourself on Nantucket, you MUST stop by The Chicken Box. The place is legendary.
6/29/05
Kier got back from an excruciating tour of Ireland. Didn't get a chance to play as much as he wanted to but it was still a good trip and a great chance to see the family.
6/09/05
Played a show with Arizona's Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Roger Cline used to be in a hit band called The Refreshments. He also wrote the FOX TV show "King of the Hill" Theme Song. They were hungover as hell but put on a great show and were pretty cool to hang out with.

Here's an update to the Gregory Moynahan Memorial Scholarship Fund (see the blog from 3/1/05). You can now donate online if you'd like. Just click Here.

5/05/05
We got a chance to have a few beers and play with Bobby Bare Jr of Bloodshot Records . Having some technical difficulties, Bobby actually borrowed some of Kier's musical gear. Bobby, is son of country legend Bobby Bare, and was nominated for a Grammy with his dad at the age of 4. We dug his new music too. You should check this guy out, he's an excellent songwriter.

3/8/05
Marty Valeri, good friend (see the BAND BIOS section) of 3DT and bassist of FATHER GRUNDY, (3DT guitarist, Sam Reid's other band), is moving out to Seattle and spent his last east coast concert jamming with Sam at The Abbey Lounge. Jimmy Ryan sat in on mandolin and former 3DT bassist, Johnny Ransom made an appearance on left handed vocals. The show was excellent and we hope to have some recordings up on the webpage soon.

3/1/05
THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME OUT FOR RODFEST, A Tribute to Greg "Rodney" Moynahan (cousin to 3dt's banjo player, Kier Byrnes who was killed in a car accident). The show sold out and we raised nearly $5,000 to help finance a scholarship in his name. Thank you everyone who attended and was patient with the lines and the bar staff, we knew it was very crowded. From the band to all who attended, Thank you for your cooperation, good will and kind words.

If you were unable to attend, and would still like to help out, you can send a donation via check made out to Stonehill College (greg's alma matter) to the Gregory Moynahan Memorial Scholarship Fund, Stonehill College, Office of Development, 320 Washington St., Easton, MA 02357. You also can donate directly to the scholarship online. A website will be posted shortly.. stay tuned!

2/24/05
Another interesting gig... we got to play the after party for the Bruins Alumni Team. Boston Bruin legend (#4 on the Bruins all-time Top 20 Scorers, Rick Middleton), bought Kier Byrnes a beer. Being a longtime hockey fan, Kier was pumped.

2/14/05
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
So a quick little story. Kier Byrnes (banjo of Three Day Threshold) tried out for the Australian 80's supergroup, INXS, last week (no joke; they are replacing Michael Hutchence's old spot and to make things even more interesting, they are filming these auditions as part of some reality show). So Kier got the call asking him to bring in 3 songs of his choice to audition with. So he went down and started with a bluegrass version of "Devil Inside" that he came up with the night before. The other musicians in the audition started hoopin' and hollerin' "Yee Haws" and stamping their feet but once the song was over, the panel was all business, gave a polite but brief applause and dead panned... "Um, yeah, thank you, we'll call you... that will be all".

So its been a few days, ha, and it doesn't look like Kier will be getting asked back any time to soon, but the whole thing did inspire us to put together a pretty cool countyrified version of the song. We hope to record it and upload it to the "DOWNLOADS" section of the webpage soon. Stay tuned...

Do you belive in seven degrees of separation? Well, if you know know someone in Three Day Threshold, you are only 4 degrees of separation from Axl Rose, Puff Daddy (or P. Diddy for that matter) and The Replacements . How? A surprise, last minute show featured Kier Byrnes of Three Day Threshold teaming up with Tommy Stinson (bassist of Guns and Roses, The Replacements, Puff Daddy), each playing acoustic shows downstairs at The Middle East in Cambridge, MA. If you were one of the lucky ones, you made it to this show. Kier did a version of Morphine's "You Look Like Rain" backed by an accordian. It came out awesome and we hope to have a live recording from the show posted on the site soon (look under "DOWNLOADS" in the column on the right).

Happy Holidays everyone! The holiday charity shows went really well, selling out Copperfields and raising over $3500 total for the kids over both shows; the Benefit for the Shriners Children's Hospital of Boston and The Globe Santa. Here's a lovely picture of Kier Byrnes (banjo for 3DT) along with Josh Lederman and Los Diablos caught in the holiday spirit: http://www.coffeestainmusic.com/PressPhotos/GlobeSanta2004FullShot.jpg

Want to watch a Three Day Threshold show in the privacy of your own home? You can a) either invite us over for some whiskey drinkin' or a much safer option would be to b) buy our new DVD! 6 dollars (American) will buy you A NEW 3DT DVD . Recorded live at Cafe Scat in Somerville, it's not just a show, it's a documentary on the things that go through our head during a typical performance. If you'd like a limited edition copy of the new DVD, send a check to Three Day Threshold c/o Kier Byrnes, 7 Speare Place, Boston, MA 02115.

10/06/04 We won the BMA! Got to hang out with some dude in Aerosmith and Walter McCarty of the Boston Celtics, plus some of my local heros like Ironlung, lead singer of Scissorfight. Real highlight was bringing Ma Reid up on stage for the acceptance speech. Go Ma Reid! Nemo was a blast too! Also great to hang out with Duke Levine, Kevin Barry, Dennis Brennan, Christian McNeil, Dana Colley, Alison Eigel, Sarah Borges, Russell Chudnofsky, Billy Conway and Tim Catz.

9/27/04 We got a new DVD for sale and the only way to find out how to get it is sign up on our e-mail list. Email k.byrnes@neu.edu for more info on that.

9/20/04 Bad news! The Freedom Rally on the Boston Commons was rained out! Good news is that there is still time to vote for The Boston Music Awards. To vote, click on: (http://www.nemoboston.com/bma/vote.html). Stay tuned, the awards ceremony this year is at Avalon on Wednesday, September 29th!

9/10/04 Good news! We've been selected to headline the Freedom Rally (aka The Hempfest), Saturday, September 18. More good news!! We were nominated for a Boston Music Award! This is our second nomination ever, last year we were able to take home the prize, hopefully, with your help, we can do it again this year. It will be tough, there are a lot of really good bands nominated, we are pretty good about being considered with them. To vote, click on: (http://www.nemoboston.com/bma/vote.html).

7/30/04 We just played the Central Square World's Fair. It was awesome; the first fair they've had since 2001. It was a honor to play it and to the crowd of over 10,000 people who made it out for it. Here's to hoping they don't wait another three years to do it again. Going to post some pictures up on justbill.net soon. Thanks to Shred and The Middle East for allowing us to be part of their stage..

6/12/04 A VERY BIG WEEK FOR 3DT!!! Not only did we just get some major national attention, here at home they were pretty nice to us too. We won our second Phoenix/FNX Best Music Poll Award for "Best Roots Rock." Other winners of the night included Outkast, The Darkness, Al Green, Johnny Cash, Incubus, Lucinda Williams, Lost City Angels, The Dresden Dolls, The Dropkick Murphys, Thom Yorke and Ani Difranco.

6/08/04 ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has presented Three Day Threshold with a "National Performance Recognition Award" as part of their ASCAPLU$ program. ASCAPLU$ is a unique awards program that provides both cash and recognition to writers in the early stages of their careers as well as to established writers whose main activity is outside of broadcast media. ASCAP is a national performing rights organization who represents thousands of artists including Beck, Madonna, The Darkness and Garth Brooks.

4/14/04 Our prayers go out to Gregory "Rodney" Moynihan, Kier's cousin and long time friend to Three Day Threshold, killed in a car accident. Reminder to all, please don't get behind the wheel of a car if you have been drinking.

2/16/04 Three Day Threshold has won 3rd place in the New England Songwriters Competition sponsored by New Life Entertainment for our song "Black River Gold." We get a little recording time out of it, so be looking for some new songs coming down the pike.

Also, with our 3rd song on MTV's Real World (Behind the Barn, Black River Gold and Victory), MTV has asked us to do some more tracks for them. We have been working again with Nick Zampiello (Cokedealer/Cracktorch) doing some instrumentals which we think are really cool, and probably will release them to the public sometime in the future. Also BIG Thanks to the NU kids for helping us get bring Bills Bar to capacity for three years running! Damn, and always a fun time. Big props to Megan Lambkin for being the star of the show. The band cites it as the best thing thats ever happened on stage. Wow, girl you rule!

1/20/04 I'd like to thank the good people from BeerAdvocate.com for having us play as well as throwing an amazing party at the Cyclorama in the South End. Harpoon, Dogfish, Smuttynose, Sam Adams, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada... the list goes on and on. Great great beers were a plenty, and we are all looking forward to the next one.

1/08/04 Happy New Year everyone. So far its been a blast. 3DT's Kier Byrnes was up for 3 awards at The Maxies (the local underground music award show sponsored by The Noise) last week; "Best Stage Presence," "Best Other Instrument" and "Best Personality." He ended up legitimately winning two awards, however grabbed all three on the way out. Ironically, the award Kier stole was for "Best Personality." Guess he still has some work to do with that one. The last award actually belongs to legendary music critic and personality guru Joe Coughlin. Congrats Joe.

12/8/03 Harpoonfest was amazing, all who braved the cold and snow, found some sweet Harpoon IPA, UFO and Winterwarmer and plenty of banjo pickin music. Seriously, thanks again all who came out, Harpoon are f'ing great hosts and they know how to throw one hell of a party. Also thanks to Fitz Grainger and Greg Moon for putting the whole thing together.

12/3/03 Just before the big Harpoon Christmas Party December 5th! WBCN X-MAS RAVE @ The Paradise, Boston, MA. Three Day Threshold's Kier Byrnes will be among the many local celebrities singing back up for Bleu (Aware Records), also performing: Ryan Adams

11/23/03 Thanks to all who made it out for Johnny Ransom's official last show. The place was sold out and unfortunately a lot of people weren't able to get in. We have a gig at Harpoon, for their Holiday party on December 5th. If you are going to come, get there early, that way you know you'll be able to get in, plus you'll be able to have a few drinks with us. We have 3 bassists lined up, but we are hoping to lure Johnny out for one more show.

10/04/03 Harpoon proves once again why their IPA is untouchable. Oktoberfest at The Harpoon Brewery was awesome and the new Trucker hats are a big hit (nice work Chad Mellen - for the concept and Jason Warne for the design).

9/18/03 Benefit for Lexi Kahn! All Guts and Glory! Lexi when on tour with All The Queens Men in Europe last spring had an intestinal failure; had to be rushed to the hospital (as it is extremely life threatening). She's undergone like a dozen surgeries and is back on her feet now. The benefit is not only to help with bills and expenses occurred but its also a nice way to show our appreciation and we are glad she made it back out of a really tough spot. If you ever happen to meet her, you'll know why instantly, she's a sweetheart. A very positive person in the whole scene. Its nice and refreshing. Cheers to Lexi and hope we see you there at the benefit tonight!

9/5/03 THE BIG NEWS! (From the Boston Herald reporting on the 2 highlights of the Boston Music Awards): "The two best presenting moments: Kate and Liv Taylor accepted the Album of the Year award for brother James' ``October Road,'' and Kate quipped, ``I know James would want to thank Livingston and I.'' and the members of Three Day Threshold accepted their award for Outstanding Rock Roots Band wearing red flannel long johns."
YEAH WE WON!!! And we got to parade around the Wang Theatre in our underwear. Can't beat that! Seriously, thanks to all who voted.

8/26/03THREE DAY THRESHOLD WAS NOMINATED FOR A BOSTON MUSIC AWARD! We'll need all of your support to win it. Voting ends August 28th and the Awards Ceremony is at the Wang Center on September 4th (3DT's Kier Byrnes will be performing the awards show as part of Bleu's backing ensemble; Blue Man group with Tracy Bonham, Howie Day and Rubyhorse are also on the bill; check our "Events" page for more info). If anyone has any "awards show" fashion advice, please drop us an email. Hah!

8/25/03 Keene, NH. Thanks to those who attended the Young Democrats convention as well as the folks from MTV who helped with the whole "Rock the Vote thing." I also want to apologize to Senator Edwards for certain 3DT band members shamelessly flirting with his daughter.

7/31/03 Three Day Threshold band has been chosen out of 2,800 bands to play at this year's Boston stop of The Warped Tour at The Brockton Fairgrounds with The Dropkick Murphys, Andrew WK, Rancid, The Ataris, Pennywise, Avoid One Thing, Big D and the Kids Table and more!!!

7/27/03 Thanks to Mike Carpenter and crew at Sky Dive New England in Lebanon ME (http://www.ugojump.com) for throwing a great party last weekend and showing us a killer time. He took the band and crew 3 miles up in an airplane, where we then jumped out and traveled 130 mph straight toward the ground. It was awesome. Everyone's chutes opened fine and we were glad to be back on the earth but man, what a rush. It was incredible. Definitely have plans to do it again next year. We are planning to post some video from the jump so stay tuned!

6/18/03 We won the Phoenix/FNX Best of Music Poll for "Best Roots Rock." Other winners of the night included Coldplay, Johnny Cash, Susan Tedeschi, The White Stripes, Scissorfight, The Dropkick Murphys, Bleu and Beck. Kier performed with Bleu as part of the celebrity choir at Avalon for the WFNX MUSIC AWARDS.
